Why "Hidden Bars"?

Hidden Bars is a Jail ministry provided for the Inmates of Benton County Jail in Arkansas with a focus of bringing to light the hidden wounds, habits, and bondages that these men face while setting them free and imparting healing through the leading of the Holy Spirit and principles found in God's word.

When praying about the direction of this ministry the Lord showed me a picture of a jail cell behind black, shadowy bars and said that these men think they know what holds them prisoner but the real issues have to be revealed to these men so that they can allow the blood of Christ and the Holy Spirit to bring them out of their bondages and heal their inner wounds.

As a corrections officer for a number of years I seen for myself the condition of these hearts. Many broken and desperate lives of men, many of whom simply made mistakes and are now facing that fact. These are young men, some just turning 18. Others are husbands and fathers whose hearts are broken for what they have done, and for the family that they are now separated from. Without Christ, frankly, many of these men have lost their reason for living which leads to a high suicide rate in our prisons and repeat offenders who think "Why not" because of the desperate situation they see their selves in. Bringing the hope of the cross to these men and the light of the Holy Spirit to their own inner barriers to freedom is the only way to get these men the true peace and freedom they long for.

My goal for this blog is to communicate to every family member and friend of the incarcerated what it is that they hear taught to them when we minster so that their friends and family can have an idea of the progress that they are making inside the facility.

It is also to help prayers warriors who support this ministry know how to pray so that we can accomplish the mission that God has given us.

Too often we forget that Christ cares a lot about prisoners. At some point in our lives we were all in bondage to something. He said in His word that he has brought the captive into His glorious captivity (Psalm 68:18) And that " the LORD hears the poor, and despises not His prisoners." (Psalm 69:33). Christ said "I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me." (Matt. 25:36)

Through the power of the blood and the Holy Spirit we, as Christians, are called to break the chains of all those who are held in captivity and to be a great light in a world full of darkness. In this life we are the world changers. We are now the ark of the covenant. We are Presence bearers of God Himself and where we set our feet there must be freedom.

I invite you to join me in this ministry through prayer and whatever support God lays on your heart to change lives and win souls into the Kingdom.
